I had the amazing opportunity to participate in the inaugural Upswell Forum at Harvard Business School (HBS), a program designed to support social entrepreneurs working in communities of color. It was a week filled with energy, collaboration, and deep connections that have left a lasting impact on how I approach my work at Nakira’s World.
In a previous blog I wrote for HBS, I detailed my journey at Upswell, highlighting the incredible experience of being surrounded by like-minded social entrepreneurs from various sectors and regions. We were united by a common goal: to drive meaningful change within our communities. Through thoughtful discussions, I found myself rethinking many aspects of my business, especially around customer engagement and growth strategies.
My colleagues at Upswell pushed me to think beyond my assumptions, and this has since sparked new strategies that I’m excited to implement as Nakira’s World enters its next phase of growth. As I shared in the original blog, “There was no shortage of energy, collaboration, and facilitation of connections to support each other’s mission and growth.” This line perfectly captures the essence of what made Upswell so unique and impactful.
The experience not only provided me with new tools and perspectives but also connected me with a network of leaders who truly understand the challenges and rewards of this work. For anyone considering the Upswell Forum or similar programs, I can’t recommend it enough. The experience not only provided me with new tools and perspectives but also connected me with a network of leaders who truly understand the challenges and rewards of this work.
