In 2022, I joined the board of Kids Forward, a statewide antiracist policy center dedicated to advocating for children and families of color, as well as those furthest from opportunity in Wisconsin. This decision was deeply personal for me, as it aligns with my commitment to building an equitable society.
Kids Forward’s mission to root out and expose systemic and structural racism resonates with my core values. They are not just focused on policy change but are dedicated to dismantling white supremacy both internally and externally in their work. Their intentional approach to making policy resources accessible to those most impacted by them is critical in ensuring that every child and family in Wisconsin can thrive, regardless of race, ethnicity, immigration status, financial means or LGBTQ identity.
It was an honor to contribute to an organization that is bold and courageous in its work and unapologetic in its commitment to a multiracial democracy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been part of their efforts to address the systemic issues facing families and young children throughout the state.
